Chemical diversity and cellular effects of antifungal cyclic lipopeptides from cyanobacteria

چکیده
Cyanobacteria produce a variety of chemically diverse cyclic lipopeptides with potent antifungal activities. These have an amphipathic structure comprised polar peptide cycle and hydrophobic fatty acid side chain. Many antibiotic activity against range human plant fungal pathogens. This review article aims to summarize the present knowledge on chemical diversity cellular effects cyanobacterial that display activity. Cyclic from cyanobacteria commonly fall into four structural classes; hassallidins, puwainaphycins, laxaphycins, anabaenolysins. these act through cholesterol ergosterol-dependent disruption membranes. In many cases, also exert cytotoxicity in cells, more extensive examination their biological structure–activity relationship is warranted. The hassallidin, puwainaphycin, laxaphycin, anabaenolysin classes are unified shared complex biosynthetic pathways encode unusual lipoinitiation mechanisms branched biosynthesis promote diversity. However, origins some mechanisms, which drive diversification general, remain poorly understood. strong functional convergence differently organized structures suggests production lipopeptide confers benefits for producer. Whether originate or other physiological function remains be answered future. it clear wealth new novel biotechnological therapeutic applications.

متن کاملAntifungal Compounds from Cyanobacteria
Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic prokaryotes found in a range of environments. They are infamous for the production of toxins, as well as bioactive compounds, which exhibit anticancer, antimicrobial and protease inhibition activities. Cyanobacteria produce a broad range of antifungals belonging to structural classes, such as peptides, polyketides and alkaloids. Here, we tested cyanobacteria fro...

Two novel cyclic lipopeptides, anabaenolysin A and anabaenolysin B, were isolated from two benthic cyanobacterial strains of the genus Anabaena. This novel class of cyanobacterial lipopeptides has a general structure of a small peptide ring consisting of four amino acids from which two are proteinogenic and two unusual; glycine(1), glycine(2), 2-(3-amino-5-oxytetrahydrofuran-2-yl)-2-hydroxyacet...

A review of the chemical structure, pharmacokinetics, spectrum of activity, clinical use, and adverse effects of oxazolidinones (linezolid), glycopeptides, and cyclic lipopeptides (daptomycin) is presented. Oxazolidinones inhibit protein synthesis, and glycopeptides and cyclic lipopeptides act against the bacterial cell wall. The antibacterial spectrum of these agents covers gram-positive patho...
